NBA executives, coaches do not expect Milwaukee Bucks to win 2024-25 title; Boston Celtics are favorites

Similar to winning the Eastern Conference in the NBA next season, the Boston Celtics are also favorites to win the championship. Unfortunately, an ESPN poll revealed that the Milwaukee Bucks are not projected to make it that far next season.

The Bucks faced challenges in Season 2023-24highlighted by a mid-season coaching change after a promising start. Despite acquiring star point guard Damian Lillard, the team struggled slow and was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Indiana Pacers, hampered by injuries to Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Looking ahead to the 2024-25 season, the Bucks are looking for better continuity and results under coach Doc Rivers. The season opener will be against the Philadelphia 76ers, and the Bucks are positioned as contenders in the Eastern Conference, potentially in the race with the Sixers and Boston Celtics for the top playoff spot.

Key games include the Celtics, who boast an impressive roster with stars like Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, and the 76ers, who have been bolstered by offseason acquisitions like Paul George. These games could serve as playoff previews, especially if the Bucks can successfully handle the challenges posed by those teams.

Similar to the prediction that Milwaukee will not win the East, there is another poll that shows the Celtics being the favorites to win the championship next season, not the Bucks. You can see this in an article written by Tim Bontemps for ESPN.

“Boston Celtics: 8
Oklahoma City Thunder: 7
Dallas Mavericks: 1
Milwaukee Bucks: 1
Minnesota Timberwolves: 1

Antetokounmpo and the Bucks, the 2021 champions, have failed to reach the second round the past two seasons, but Milwaukee is hopeful that the second year of the Giannis-Damian Lillard partnership will bring a title,” Bontemps wrote.

While the roster features talent like Antetokounmpo, Lillard, and Khris Middleton, concerns about their fit and the latter’s injury history remain. The Bucks also need to bolster their forward depth to effectively compete with their rivals.

WITH predicted score 52-30The Bucks are expected to make the playoffs, but they are still unsure of their championship potential. If the team can overcome these obstacles and find consistency, they could become a serious contender in the East.
