Milwaukee Brewers: Brewers beat Giants in 5-3 victory

The Milwaukee Brewers began a three-game series with the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. The Brewers suffered a devastating 5-4 loss in the first game of the series. Last night, Milwaukee came back, scoring five runs in the fifth inning to win 5-3 victory. Now, a final game will decide this series, with the Brewers looking to maintain their lead in the NL Central division.

Milwaukee is 76-56 with the win. They lead 10 games in the NL Central over the 68-66 Chicago Cubs. San Francisco is even at 67-67. They are 12 games behind the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West and eight and a half games behind the third-place San Diego Padres.

Neither team would score until the fifth inning. It would be none other than Brewers left fielder Jackson Chourio, who hit a 449-foot bomb Tuesday night to score the game’s first run in the bottom of the fifth inning when he sent an RBI single to right field. On the next bounce, center fielder Blake Perkins smacked a two-run double off the left-field wall to give Milwaukee a 3-0 lead. Then, on the next bounce, Brewers catcher William Contreras crushed a two-run home run to left-center field.

In the top of the seventh inning, Giants third baseman Matt Chapman scored on a throwing error by Brewers third baseman Joey Ortiz. A half-inning later, Brewers right fielder Sal Frelick was ejected from the game after being hit by a pitch by Austin Warren. Hopefully, his injury is not too grave and he can return to the game immediately. In the top of the eighth inning, Giants left fielder Michael Conforto hit an RBI double deep to left field. Two batters later, Giants designated hitter Heliot Ramos hit an RBI single to center field. San Francisco could not continue the rally and lost the game 5-3.
