Wisconsin author Bob Allen introduces kids to the world of fishing

A passion for fishing led Bob Allen to begin a up-to-date career.
The Brookfield, Wis., resident has self-published five children’s books on fishing in the past five years. On June 17, he had a booth at the annual Customer Appreciation Day at St. Croix Rods in Park Falls.
“I’m retired, and my wife said, ‘You need a project,’” Allen said. “I said, ‘Well, I did some writing in high school,’ and she told me to write about something I know about. I coached hockey for 35 years, but I’ve been fishing for 70 years. I said, ‘I’m going to write about fishing.’”
