A 50-year-old Beaver Dam woman died Saturday morning following a motorcycle crash on Highway 33.
The woman was a passenger on the motorcycle. The operator of the motorcycle, a 42-year-old Beaver Dam man, suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash.
A passerby reported a sedate motorcycle accident on Highway 33 near Thompson Road around 10:30 a.m., according to a statement from Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt.
The investigation revealed that a group of motorcycles were traveling east on Highway 33 and began to tardy down, possibly due to the passenger vehicle slowing while turning into the driveway, Schmidt said. The operator of one of the motorcycles lost control of the vehicle and both people were thrown from the vehicle. The man was flown by UW Med Flight to a Level II trauma center with life-threatening injuries. A woman died at a landing site that was set up near the Dodge County Fairgrounds.
Schmidt said none of the passengers were wearing helmets, which contributed to the severity of the injuries. The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
Beaver Dam Fire and Paramedics, the Dodge County Medical Examiner, the Dodge County Emergency Response Team, Flight For Life, the Beaver Dam Police Department and the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Chaplain also assisted with the response and investigation.
