A case study of Minnesota crappie examines barotrauma in this popular fish among ice anglers

The fish were left in the net overnight and checked again the next day. Upon re-inspection, a enormous percentage of the fish were found to be dead or dead but unsuitable for release. A diminutive percentage appeared to be in good condition and could be released.
The data from this study is purely anecdotal for now. However, observations from this work will serve as a guide for future, more formal research.
