A retired Wisconsin wildlife researcher lists needed changes to the state’s deer program

If Wisconsin had its own Dr. Deer, it would have to be Keith McCaffery.
McCaffery, 84, of Rhinelander, was a longtime wildlife investigator with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR). He left the agency twice. Once officially; once unofficially.
He officially retired in 2000, but never left his desk, remaining a volunteer for another 20 years, willing to share the knowledge he had gained over 37 years as a deer biologist.
