Music director Ken-David Masur runs a powerful program emphasizing three generations of American composers. In the moving musical portrait of Aaron Copland Abraham Lincoln, the composer begins with suggesting “a mysterious sense of mortality that surrounds Lincoln’s personality” and ends, trying “drawing a simple but impressive frame about the words of Lincoln himself.” The main clarinet of MSO Todd Levy performs Richard Danielpour from above, dedicated to the heritage of Fr. Martin Luther King Jr. The evening ends with the second symphony of Charles Ives, who tries classic American folk melodies, such as “America The Beautiful”, “”, “Turkey in Słom” and “Camptown Races” – the last of which Lincoln himself used as a song campaign, bringing a concert wheel.
