Analyst looks at Milwaukee Bucks’ disappointing trade for 1 reserve player

The Milwaukee Bucks have struggled to stay in the playoffs despite winning their first NBA title in decades in 2021. While there’s no denying that Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of the best players the NBA has ever seen, recent seasons have shown that he can’t win it all on his own.

While other factors prevented the Bucks from making it to the Finals again, it all comes down to the fact that the roster wasn’t working the way it should have. While some key members of the roster are looking to prove everyone wrong this upcoming season, it can’t be helped that some of the roster changes the Bucks made have disappointed some fans.

One decision that has broken fans’ hearts is the miniature tenure of Grayson Allen. He was a useful defender for the team, providing scoring and defense, but one analyst tried to explore why he didn’t have a bigger impact on the Bucks’ championship hopes.

Analyst believes Grayson Allen’s tenure with the Milwaukee Bucks was a failure due to his inability to perform in huge moments

For Bucks Pass’ Dalton Sell wrote about the trades Milwaukee made after winning the 2021 championship and why they didn’t work out.

He spoke about Allen and his time with the team. While he didn’t completely bash the Duke product, he did point out that his inability to get on the field in huge games makes him a piece the team can do without:

Allen had his moments, even having the best regular season of his career in 2021-22. However, the moment that will define his tenure with the Bucks is the 2022 playoff series against Boston. After heating up in the previous series, Allen’s production plummeted against the Celtics, averaging five points, shooting 20.8 percent from three and getting constantly targeted on defense.

The guard had a great year the following season, shooting the ball well from distance while also increasing his production as a playmaker. His play wasn’t as bad in the 2023 NBA Playoffs as it was in this series against the Boston Celtics, but he still didn’t raise the bar enough against the Miami Heat, especially as the team dealt with the absence of Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Allen has averaged 10.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 0.8 steals for his career. two-year period with the team. Fans believe the decision to cut him was wise, as it helped them get a legitimate partner for Giannis in Dame. However, they hope Lillard can step up and lend a hand the team make another Finals appearance sooner rather than later.
