Anna Smrek, former player of the Wisconsin Badgers volleyball team, has officially signed a contract with Vero Volley Milano. A few days ago, there were reports that she had signed overseas, but now it has been confirmed by the signing team. In doing so, she follows in the footsteps of one of her former UW-Madison teammates.

According to the team’s press reports, the signing of Anna Smrek’s contract with Vero Volley Milano is official. Smrek was initially selected in the Pro Volleyball Federation draft in November, but will now continue her career abroad.

Former Wisconsin Badgers volleyball player Dana Rettke played for the Vero Volley Milano team
Dana Rettke, former Badgers volleyball player and former tallest player in program history until Anna Smrek came along, played internationally for Vero Volley Milano from 2022–2024. He currently plays in the Turkish league for the Eczacibasi sports club. Smrek and Rettke were teammates in 2020 and 2021.
