Another large star in MLB free agency has found a novel home, with former Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Corbin Burnes opting to take his talents to the National League West – but not to the San Francisco Giants.
Early Saturday morning, MLB insider Jon Heyman dropped a bombshell report on Burnes agreeing to a huge contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Via Heyman: “Breakout: Corbin Burns to Diamondbacks, $210 million, 6 years. resign after 2 years.”
This is a surprising conclusion from Burnes’ MLB free agency saga, considering the four-time All-Star has been heavily linked to the Giants and Toronto Blue Jays. Burnes chose to go to the Diamondbacks instead. USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. also said Burnes took into account Arizona’s “large tax difference” in his huge decision.
The 30-year-old Burnes, who played his first six large league seasons with the Brewers before Milwaukee traded him to the Baltimore Orioles in February 2024, was 15-9 with a 2.92 ERA and 3.55 FIP in 32 starts. About in the 2024 campaign.
Social media is buzzing over Corbin Burnes’ novel contract
“The Orioles accumulated all these prospects just to let Burnes go, and now their rotation is terrible.”

“Corbin Burnes and his wife had just given birth to twins and wanted to stay home in Arizona, which led to them signing with the D-backs. It’s shocking, but also pretty amazing. Group D players are among the most affected by the RSN uncertainty, and yet they continue to fight.”
