Continued above-freezing temperatures in parts of Wisconsin are impacting winter sports resorts across the state. Based on Wisconsin Snow Report, Compiled by Travel Wisconsin based on observer reports, below are snow depths for downhill skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing across the state as of February 8, with an emphasis on locations with the best conditions currently.

NORTHERN WISCONSIN

Good condition: Mount Christie Bruce’s 18-28 inches; Mont du Lac Resort in the Superior version 18-34 inches; Keyes Peak Ski Jump in Florence County, 12-24 inches, all open; Mount Ashwabay in Bayfield 6-12 inches; Paul Bunyan Ski Jump at Lakewood, 4-9 inches, all open; Pile of trolls in Dresser, 6-24 inches.

CENTRAL WISCONSIN

Good condition: Granite Peak Ski Area in Wausau, 24-36 inches, all open; Nordic Mountain in Wild Rose, 24-36 inches, all open; Sylvan Tubing Hill in Wausau, 6-12 inches.

SOUTH WISCONSIN

Good condition: Tyrolean Basin on Mount Horeb 25-30 inches; Cascade Mountain in Portage, 24-36 inches, all open; Snowpark Rock at Franklin, 24-36 inches and more, all open; Mountaintop in Grand Geneva in Lake Geneva 16-24 inches, all open; Mount Wilmot at Wilmot, 16-24 inches, all open; Little Switzerland in Slinger, 15 inches, all gears open; Mount La Crosse in La Crosse, 10-25 inches, all runs open; Alpine Valley at Elkhorn, 12-17 inches, all open; Devil’s Head Resort at Merrimac, 6-12 inches (closed Thursday, February 8).

Snowmobile trail conditions in Wisconsin

NORTH

Nearly all northern Wisconsin counties report snowmobile trail closures as of February 1.

CENTRAL

Nearly all central Wisconsin counties report snowmobile trail closures as of February 1.

SOUTH

Nearly all southern Wisconsin counties report snowmobile trail closures as of February 1.

Cross-country skiing and snowshoeing conditions in Wisconsin

NORTH

All respondents report that conditions are impoverished or closed.

CENTRAL

All respondents report that conditions are impoverished or closed.

SOUTH

Fair conditions: Lapham Peak, 10-20 inches of artificial snow, prepared. Most other locations in southern Wisconsin are closed or reporting impoverished conditions.
