The Wisconsin Badgers lost Tyler Van Dyke and Braedyn Locke to the transfer portal this offseason. Wisconsin needed to find several quarterbacks in the portal who could compete in the BIG10 conference next season.
One of the players who entered his name into the portal was the former Maryland Terrapins point guard Billy Edwards Jr. Last season for Maryland, he completed 65.0% of his passes for 2,881 yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Billy Edwards Jr. After leaving Maryland, he joins the Wisconsin Badgers
On Monday, the former Terrapins point guard involved to the Badgers football program for the 2025 season. He was a junior for Maryland last season and will be entering his senior year. To match his passing from the 2024 season, he also rushed for 150 yards on 81 carries and five touchdowns, averaging 1.9 yards per carry.
When Billy Edwards Jr. joins the Badgers football program, he will need to be a useful quarterback for them. Last season, Wisconsin lacked proficient quarterback play. Head coach Luke Fickell is under pressure to win some games in 2025.

A gigantic plus for the badgers. I love his footwork and arm strength. It will be stimulating to watch his development with Grimes and the future QB coach. I wouldn’t mind if he brought Roman Hemby either😁. Let’s work @Billy_Edwards4

Terrapin Nation respects you, but in the end you went to your conference rival anyway. Get ready to learn Malik Washington, buddy.

Do you think this is good news?
I see O’Niell also committing to Wisconsin
Which one best fits Grimes’ offense?

Some Badgers fans are excited about his arrival, and some Maryland Terrapins fans are upset about his departure. Billy Edwards Jr. will be competing for the starting quarterback job during the 2025 college football season. Hopefully, the transfer portal quarterback will be working for Luke Fickell this time around. If it doesn’t work out this time, there’s a chance the Badgers could have a fresh head coach for the 2026 college football season.
