After a powerful recruiting process and an excellent official visit, the Wisconsin football staff has earned a three-star edge rusher for 2025 Nicolas Clayton. Clayton seemed likely to remain at Florida State, but the Wisconsin staff made a huge impression during his visit and took the lead by the end of his recruitment.
Clayton was an unseen recruit for a long time, but he showed up on the field last season. The edge rusher currently has 25 scholarship offers and took five official visits before making his final commitment decision.
What does Clayton offer the Wisconsin Badgers football defense?
Clayton is a substantial, versatile forward who provides quite a bit for Wisconsin’s defense. The recruit stands 6 feet 5 inches and weighs nearly 210 pounds without pads on. While he may be substantial, the edge rusher also has incredible speed for his size and excellent pursuit ability that allows him to make plays from behind.
Clayton is a perfect fit for Wisconsin’s defense not only because of his size, but also because of the physicality with which he plays the football. The aggression and substantial plays Clayton is capable of producing go far beyond what his three-star rating might suggest to some.
Who will be next on the Wisconsin football team thanks to Clayton’s commitment?
Since Clayton’s commitment will come right at the end of his recruitment, Wisconsin is looking to replicate that commitment with another recruit. Wide receiver Muizz Tounkara he could be closer to the 2025 recruiting class the Badgers need. Wisconsin made the final three for Tounkara, who made the decision to commit on July 13.
Badgers are the opposite Arizona AND Kansas as winger Tounkara’s decision emerges.
