Tonight, the Wisconsin football staff finally achieved its biggest goal for the 2025 recruiting class.
Four-star defenseman and top-ranked player in the state of New Mexico, Mason Posa, announced his commitment to the Badgers. The Wisconsin football staff made Posa their recruiting priority, and rightly so given his skills and abilities. Posa is arguably the Badgers’ most talented player in the 2025 class and should make an immediate impact.

After months of intense recruiting and a key official visit to Madison, the Wisconsin football staff has signed a four-star linebacker Mason’s Positions. Posa, a 2025 recruit currently at the top of New Mexico’s rankings, is currently the 18th overall linebacker in the recruiting class. Linebacker joins Wisconsin football class as commitment of the highest order with a rating of 91, only one point higher than the other commitment Logan Powell.
A few weeks ago, Posa narrowed his list of programs to three, including Oregon, Texas A&M and Wisconsin. Ultimately, Posa chose the Wisconsin football program because of his connections with the staff and the development as a linebacker that Wisconsin could offer.
Wisconsin Badgers Football gets its man and position over modern Big Ten rival Oregon
After Pos officially announced his commitment, the Wisconsin football staff secured a commitment from its top recruiting target. Posa has been on the radar of the Wisconsin football staff for quite some time and replaces the prototypical version of the Badgers defenseman. The top-ranked recruit from New Mexico State has incredible talent in this field, which made it extremely hard for staff to risk sending him to another program.
Wisconsin made sure Posa would become a Badger, then conducted countless hours of recruiting and a special official visit.
The second program that led Posy’s recruitment was modern Big Ten Conference entry, Oregon ducks. The Ducks have a history of formidable defenses, but ultimately were unable to complete a trade for a linebacker.
For Pos, finding time to play may become an effortless task in the future
One of the biggest questions surrounding Posy is whether he will be an immediate impact player, much like current Badger Tackett Curtis was last season for USC. Posa has incredible football awareness and a sixth sense for understanding where the next game will take place. The lively defender offers far too much on the pitch to remain on the bench in his first season.
With Posa becoming a member of the Wisconsin football program, finding a role for him should be a fairly effortless task.
