The Wisconsin football staff turned down one of its top transfer commitments from Louisville.
Ex Stephen F. Austin defensive lineman Brandon Lane he transferred to Louisville in the offseason before recommitting. Lane shined on the field at his former school and decided to test his worth in the transfer portal, like many other college players. After committing to Louisville through the portal, Lane began talking extensively with Wisconsin football and will now become a Badger next season.

After concluding and withdrawing the contract to Michigan State, a transfer with a four-star rating Brandon Lane he decided to commit to Louisville. Lane once again withdrew from his commitment, but this time he landed back up north with the Wisconsin football team. Lane, who originally signed with South Dakota State and then transferred to Stephen F. Austin, is a talented and physically imposing defensive lineman.
At 6-foot-4, Lane is a massive, physical lineman who adds extra power to his shots. Last season, Lane recorded 44 total tackles and 6.5 tackles for loss on opposing offenses.
After entering the transfer portal, Lane became notable for programs such as West Virginia, Michigan State, Oklahoma and the Wisconsin football program. The defensive lineman stated that he wanted to join a program that would “develop” his skills through both schematic fit and informed coaching. After several decisions, Lane appears to be most comfortable with the Wisconsin football team.

If there’s one thing Lane was brought to Madison to do, it was to stop the run. Lane is a talented defensive lineman, but his greatest defensive skill is definitely his ability to disrupt the run. No matter who or how many blockers are directed under his direction, Lane still finds a way to create pressure on every play. Given his size and playing style, it’s almost impossible to move Lane back.
For the Wisconsin Badgers football staff, Lane could become a player who truly makes a difference on the field with his combination of tenacity and size.
Can Brandon Lane change the Badgers’ fortunes?
If there was one position that the Wisconsin staff could point to as an upgrade, it would certainly be on the defensive line. Between restricted production last season and the transfer of starting guard Gio Paez, Wisconsin lost firepower on the defensive line. However, Lane has the skills and potential to become a player who will be Wisconsin’s leader.
However, the biggest question surrounding Lane is whether he will stay true to his commitment this time around, after backing out of his previous two.
