A former NBA player arguing with a coach probably isn’t on any NBA fan’s bingo card, but it’s happening now as Milwaukee Bucks legend Brandon Jennings goes back and forth with Jayson Tatum’s coach after he called the Boston Celtics star “soft.”
Someone insulting your work can be really annoying Drew Hanlen made exceptions on words used by Jennings in the Gilbert Arenas podcast about his client.
“Is [Jayson Tatum] the gentlest Boston Celtics star ever. … I think I will be more afraid of Jaylen Brown than Jayson Tatum,” Jennings said.
The comments reached Hanlen, who used sharp weapons in an attempt to disprove the former NBA player’s claims.
“I liked Brandon Jennings as a player, but we have to keep it [cap]- he said.
“His comment that Tatum is ‘soft’ is pathetic. A soft player could not lead his team to the title in PTS, REB and AST. A soft player would not have had 51 points in G7 or 31/11/8 to win the finals.
Jayson Tatum responds to Brandon Jennings
Jennings, who had emerged as a fan favorite despite his mediocre following in Wisconsin, actually couldn’t get enough of Hanlen after that response. He said Tatum should win MVP this season, as if saying that was the only thing that would change his opinion of the Celtics player.
“Since you’re his coach, make sure he gets MVP this year… I heard you wrote a book called ‘Stop the Bulls.’ I will write part two if he doesn’t get it.”
An All-Star who has time takes notes. He didn’t respond directly to this sharp remark, but he did respond posted on Instagram with a caption clearly referencing Jennings’ shot.
Jennings still didn’t want to let go. He even commented on Tatum’s post:
“This is the energy I want.”
