One of the retired numbers in the Giants organization is #27. This number has been retired in honor of Juan Marichal. The pitcher leads the San Francisco franchise in complete games (244), shutouts (52), innings (3,443) and strikeouts (2,281).

Willy Adames revealed on his Instagram that he will be wearing number 2. This means that Blake Sabol will need a modern number. When Adames was with the Milwaukee Brewers, Brice Turang changed his number from 0 to 2 after the departure of Luis Urias, which means that this number has a personal/family connection to Turang.

When Willy Adames was with the Milwaukee Brewers, he met his childhood hero Derek Jeter, who also wore number 2
In September 2023, Willy Adames met Derek Jeter when the Milwaukee Brewers were playing a series against the New York Yankees. Adames was found smiling from ear to ear during the conversation and later claimed he didn’t even remember what Jeter told him because he was so excited.
After the conversation, Adames said, “This is the moment I’ve dreamed about since I was a kid. You meet your idol, the guy you’ve admired since childhood, the guy you want to be. It’s amazing to finally have it. I don’t even know how to describe it.”
