Comment: Fresh study looks at why wild turkey eggs are not hatching and how that is contributing to population declines

Is the decline in turkey populations caused by predators, as many suggest, or by eggs failing to hatch?
Opinions vary, but the National Wild Turkey Federation is taking a closer look to find out—and try to fix the problem. As part of its 2023 investment in wild turkey research, the NWTF is helping fund a unique University of Tennessee project examining potential factors that could prevent turkey eggs from becoming turkey poults. Studying wild turkey eggs in this way is entirely recent to wild turkey management, and the results could be instructive.
