Theodore Roosevelt believed in the restorative benefits of hunting—and in the importance of preserving wildlife for its own sake. His conservation philosophy has survived through government action, even though many opposed it.
Opposition came primarily from commercial interests – the same ones that exploited workers and manipulated the financial system.
