Dates for removing ice shall approaching Wisconsin Waters


Madison, Wis. – The Wisconsin (DNR) Department of Natural Resources resembles ice anglers with the following dates to remove their constant ice shared shared or those that are not removed every day, in inland and border waters.

Ice shanges should be removed from state waters in the following dates:

  • Wisconsin – Iowa Boundary Waters on February 20 or before
  • Wisconsin – Minnesota Boundary Waters on March 1 or before
  • Inland waters south of the highway 64 to March 2
  • Wisconsin – Michigan Boundary Waters on March 15 or before
  • Lake Michigan, Green Bay, Lake Superior and inland waters north of highway 64 to 16 March

If you need assist in removing Shanta, contact local fishing clubs, sellers and other anglers. Owners who do not take responsibility for removing Shanta should be reported to the DNR violation helpline by calling or sending SMSs 1-800-TIP-WNDR or 1-800-847-9367.

No ice is 100% sheltered. Ice anglers should check local fisheries clubs and lures stores to obtain current ice conditions before removing their shanty, because DNR does not monitor ice conditions.
