For decades, the classic first day of spring has been the last Saturday in March for the Brule River trout fisherman in Wisconsin.
It doesn’t matter whether there’s still 3 feet of snow on the banks of this storied river, or 3 feet of melted snow, putting the river in flood stage, there will be no shortage of steelheads on opening day. This applies to you too, at least until this year’s edition fell on the Easter family weekend. And that’s okay. At this stage of the game I had a lot of Brule River openers under my belt.
