Attending a meeting of the Bayfield County Deer Advisory Committee in Washburn, Wisconsin on the night of April 23 made me wonder why we have not yet returned to using the elderly “numbered units” that were employed before the arrival of Dr. James Kroll from Texas and his Deer Trustee Report.
This experiment has been going on for 10 years now, and I think it’s safe and sound to say that some parts of the plan aren’t working. We can keep CDAC and DMAP (Deer Management Assistance Program), but – at least in northern Wisconsin – we must leave these district units.
