July is National Ice Cream Month – and what better way to enjoy it than by exploring the Great Wisconsin Ice Cream Trail?!

Here at Gather Wisconsin, we’ve rounded up 14 of our favorite ice cream stops across the state, each with a unique connection to Wisconsin agriculture. Whether they make their own ice cream, offer farm experiences for you to enjoy, or lend a hand you connect with the farmers behind your sweet treat, these stops are sure to please!

1. Lamers Dairy Inc., Appleton

Enjoy fresh cushioned serve ice cream or handmade Cedar Crest ice cream at Lamers Dairymade with milk from a local family farm. When you visit, be sure to watch the milk bottling process through the display windows!

2. LaClare Creamery Cheese Shop, Cafe & Goat Farm, Malone

LaClare Ice Cream Parlor offers a unique experience with self-guided tours, viewing windows, a café, retail shop, and a selection of goat and cow milk ice creams. Check their website for a list of events!

3. Kelley Country Creamery, Fond du Lac

Kelley Country Ice Cream Parlor offers 22 flavors of farm-style ice cream every day, with seasonal and special flavors. This is “the best ice cream in the wilderness.” Watch the ice cream being made while you enjoy your delicious treat!

4. Sassy Cow Creamery, Columbus

Sassy Cow Creamery offers premium ice cream and dairy products. Visitors can view production through display windows and enjoy ice cream cones, desserts and more.

5. Babcock’s Dairy Store, Madison

Babcock Dairy Plant produces signature dairy products for the University of Wisconsin–Madison, supporting research and teaching. Enjoy nearly 20 flavors of ice cream in store or take them home to enjoy anytime!

6. Lucky Cow Coffee and Gelato, Darlington

Lucky Cow Coffee and Ice Cream in Darlington offers creamy gelato made with milk straight from the farm, as well as baked goods, coffee drinks and snacks. They also offer cheese from Miester Cheese and beef sticks from Hilby Family Farm.

7. Vesperman Farm, Lancaster

Thanks to high-quality ingredients and proven recipes, Vesperman Farm has small-batch ice cream that is handcrafted for huge flavor. The shop offers ice cream, cookies, and other treats. They also offer family fun during the fall season from mid-September to behind schedule October.

8. Udder Brothers Creamery & Restaurant, Boscobel

Udder Brothers Creamery & Restaurant offers 24 flavors of handmade ice cream, a variety of local meats and cheeses, and on selected summer weekends you can even visit the mini zoo!

9. Feltz’s Dairy Store, Stevens Point

Feltz’s Dairy Store offers 16 flavors of locally made King Cone ice cream, fresh cottage cheese and other dairy products. Visitors can watch cows being milked and cheese being made through viewing windows.

10. Weber’s Farm Store, Marshfield

Weber’s Farm Shop offers cushioned serve ice cream in a variety of sizes and flavors, including cones, sundaes, and ice cream sundaes, as well as Cedar Crest ice cream. Take advantage of the kids’ play area and patio to relax.

11. Dylan’s Creamery, Cornell

Dylan’s Dairy offers homemade ice cream and cones, as well as a fish fry style menu including deep fried cheese curds, seafood, mozzarella sticks and more! Enjoy lattes, cappuccinos and a classic Friday night Wisconsin fish fry.

12. Farmstead Creamery & Cafe, Hayward

Homestead North Star Farms (operator of Farmstead Creamery & Cafe) offers Sweet’s Dream, a creamy, artisanal Italian-style ice cream made with 100% sheep’s milk. This family-owned farm located in northern Wisconsin has a delicious treat for you!

13. Tetzner Dairy, Washburn

Tetzner’s Dairy in Washburn is a family farm with a self-service shop offering milk, ice cream and other dairy products from the farm. Open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.

14. Crystal Ball Farms, Osceola

Crystal Ball Farms Dairy in Osceola offers milk, cheese, butter and ice cream in their farm shop. All products come in a variety of flavors and you can watch the cow being milked at 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
