It’s time to oil your shotguns, dust off your decoys, and fill your vests. Three of Wisconsin’s earliest fall hunting seasons begin on September 1 for early geese, early teal and mourning doves.
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) migratory game bird ecologist Taylor Finger said Wisconsin has had excellent nesting conditions since spring, but the brood-rearing season for ducks and geese has been exceptionally parched.
“I believe species such as teal, mallard and wood duck may have been impacted,” Finger said.
