During a meeting with DNR staff, voices were heard from volunteers participating in a stalled cooperative trout breeding program in Wisconsin

They came to the open forum looking for answers as to why what seemed like a perfect combination of government and private sector program – a long-term cooperative trout farming program – had suddenly ended.

Why would the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) discontinue a successful breeding/stocking program involving 21 sports clubs in southwestern Wisconsin at the end of June? More than 50 people, many of them upset and frustrated with the lack of communication from the DNR, showed up at the Arcadia Sportsman’s Club on Tuesday evening, Aug. 13, to meet with DNR Fisheries Chief Justine Hasz and Dave Giehtbrock, DNR Fisheries Section Chief fishing.
