Neenah (NBC 26) – the baseball team Rockets is chasing history – they are climbing its first conference title for almost 50 years. The head was older Andrew Carlson, who introduces his leadership and championship from the football field to the diamond.
“I am really excited, excited about being a guy,” said Carlson. “You know, let people encircle my name and be like this guy, but I am excited about this challenge. I am excited that I can build a really good younger year.”
The main trainer Aaron Nelson said rockets are based on veterans such as Carlson. As the only four -year baseball player Neenah, his experience is unmatched.
“When you talk about first graders in FVA, it doesn’t happen much, right?” Nelson said. “So only his work ethics, the way he attacks every day. He is a baseball guy all the time. He lives, breathes and dies in this game. He goes to the next level to play.”
But this is not only his talent – Karlson stands out as a leader, both on the pitch and outside.
He is involved in DECA, leadership and entrepreneurship club and runs in class. He recognizes his older brother, a former rocket catcher, to shape his leadership style.
“Watching him at a young age, I received these leadership skills from an early age,” said Carlson. “I think I have always been a more open, confident person. Self -confidence has really developed in the last few years.”
This growth has not become unnoticed – Nelson coach said Carlson became exactly the leader that the band is looking at.
“We want this Servant leader, these guys to look at,” said Nelson. “You know, he became more and more a vocal leader, as he is, you know, aging here. So where did I have him as a second year’s studies, my first year in which he is now is simply fantastic.”
Carlson not only brings leadership – brings a football way of thinking to a diamond. As a linebacker, he learned to move with precision and aggression, and now he uses these skills in the third base.
“You get football – you move with different designs, in a sense you learn to aggresses that you don’t really get to baseball,” said Carlson. “As a linebacker you have to work down, the same angles in which I practiced in football, I use at all times and on the third base.”
And there is one more thing that he hopes to bring from football: win.
After the support of Neenah in gaining participation in FVA football, Carlson hopes that the same success will move in the spring.
