Exclusive: 2026 WR, Wisconsin football facility feels blazing speed will make a difference

In a recent exclusive interview with Wisconsin Sports HeroesWisconsin football goal Zachary Washington he opened up about his speed.

Washington, a three-star receiver in the 2026 class, has been a heavily recruited target for the Wisconsin football staff. The player currently has 13 main offers, but he feels that the biggest ones are still ahead of him because he is still proving himself on the pitch. The Wisconsin football staff continues to show great interest as Washington plans to attend Bucky’s barbecue in Madison tomorrow.

A three-star winger from Illinois Zachary Washington he is known on the pitch for his speed, but the attacker also has many other skills. Washington currently has 13 major scholarship offers, with offers ranging from Illinois, Indiana, Be a virginAND Minnesota to name just a few. The recipient said the process so far has been “…really exciting and fun, especially building new relationships with new coaches.”

One of the first programs to expand scholarship to Washington was the Wisconsin football program. Washington stated regarding the offer, “I think Wisconsin made the biggest impression because it was my first Big Ten offer and it generated a lot of interest.”

Washington also noted that both of his parents are from Wisconsin, which also contributed to his interest in the program.

Washington has been open about the level of interest the Wisconsin football staff has received. The recipient stated that the team is “very interested” and that he has a similar level of interest in the program. Washington received a scholarship offer from the Wisconsin football staff in April of this year, which was his first Big Ten Conference offer, as well as his first Power Four scholarship offer.

In the eyes of both the Wisconsin and Washington football staffs, the recruit has yet to level up. When asked what sets him apart from other receivers, Washington stated, “My speed, my ability to perform at my best and my awareness set me apart.”

Washington is an incredible attacker, but perhaps the most fascinating aspect of his speed is his ability to instantly reach top speed. The receiver does not need to balmy up and can reach maximum speed in the blink of an eye.

Considering all of Washington’s strengths, he still believes there is still a lot of work to be done to improve as an all-around forward. Washington stated, “I think there is a lot more room for improvement in my routes.” With the potential to improve his routes, Washington could become a lethal receiver on the field in the near future.
