“.” – this is what Craig Counsell does in Wisconsin after leaving the Milwaukee Brewers.
He not only left the team, he left it to his rivals.
The world of Wisconsin sports fans was turned upside down when Counsell, the man with the most managerial wins for the Brewers, decided to sign a contract with the Chicago Cubs in 2023, after nine seasons with them.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel conducted a poll on who Wisconsins biggest sports villain is for 2024, and the 54-year-old might just win it by a mile.
On MJS’s profile we read about him:
The shocking news that Milwaukee’s favorite son defected to Chicago’s North Side after the 2023 season has caused many to change their minds about the all-time greatest manager in Brewers history.
When he returned to American Family Field in May, he certainly caused a storm of violent booing.
The current poll result says he won over 50 percent of the vote.
Counsell explained that his move to rivals was more his doing you are looking for a novel challenge.
“This is a challenge for an organization that is in a very good place and is simply prepared to do exceptional things. This part is certainly invigorating and alluring. You know it’s a challenge. This will be tough. It’s scary because change is scary. But sometimes you have to get out of that comfort zone and that’s what makes it invigorating,” he said in November 2023.
Other MLB players join Craig Counsell as the Milwaukee Brewers’ biggest villain
Wisconsinites love baseball and hate their tormentors because the top three are made up of MLB players.
The top 3 biggest villains in Wisconsin sports come from Major League Baseball.
New York Mets outfielder Jesse Winker is second, and fellow first baseman Pete Alonso is third. This is because the Mets eliminated the Brewers in the first round of the 2024 playoffs.
Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers, who looked proud in eliminating the Milwaukee Bucks in both the NBA Cup and the first round of the playoffs, is in fourth place.
