The Milwaukee Brewers are known for finding replacement pitchers for journeymen and asking them to assign them career numbers, regardless of how long or low their tenure with the team may be. This was true when Craig Counsell was Milwaukee’s manager, and it remains true now with Pat Murphy leading the Brewers.
In the upcoming season, Milwaukee hopes to get the most out of relatively unknown pitchers like Grant Wolfram, Connor Thomas and Grant Anderson. Meanwhile, Chicago Cubs they are turning to the former Brewers relief pitcher in hopes that he can add depth to their home bullpen.
Former Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Trevor Richards has signed with the Chicago Cubs
On Monday, it was reported that former Brewers pitcher Trevor Richards had signed a minor league contract with the Cubs:

Richards spent last season with the Toronto Blue Jays and Minnesota Twins, posting a 2-2 record, 4.55 ERA and 1.21 ERA. He also led the American League with 13 wild pitches.
Brewers fans may not remember Richards because he only appeared in 15 games for Milwaukee in 2021. He was acquired after starting the season with the Tampa Bay Rays in the same deal that brought Willy Adames to the team.
But while Adames became a fan favorite and one of the most beloved Brewers players in recent memory, Richards was traded again shortly thereafter for Rowdy Tellez.
That being said, his ERA of 3.20 in Milwaukee is his best on any of the many teams he has played for. Richards has played for five teams in his seven-year career and is 24-28 with a 4.50 ERA.
