However, one former Bucks player was denied a chance to play in the Olympics.
Former Milwaukee Bucks player unable to compete in 2024 Olympics
Thon Maker, who played for the Bucks from 2016-2018 (starting 46 games during that time), Published on Twitter (X) saying that he was not allowed to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games:
Maker told ESPN Olgun Uluc On May 1, he announced that Basketball Australia would not bar him from playing for his home country of South Sudan.
FIBA authorization is required for this move. A change of country is permitted if it is “in the interest of the development of basketball” in the fresh country according to Article 3-22 of the FIBA Internal Regulations.
“Awaiting the final decision of FIBA on Monday, fingers I exceeded my appeal to receive let me play against South Sudan. It would be a dream come true,” Maker wrote on social media after South Sudan lost to Team USA in London by one point (100-101).
