Former Wisconsin Badgers defenseman Zack Baun has always been a fan favorite. A native of West Bend, Wisconsin, Baun attended his hometown state university and continued a robust line of intimidating Badgers linebackers. He was selected in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft by draft New Orleans Saintsbut he never really found his footing there in the NFL.
Of course, the Saints are not the best model for a successful franchise in the NFL, especially over the last few years. When Baun entered free agency after the 2023 NFL season, he had played in 62 games, one career interception, 88 career tackles and 2.0 career sacks.
He signed a one-year contract with the Philadelphia Eagles worth $3.5 million, which will go down in history as one of the best deals in recent memory.

The Eagles, who are the Green Bay Packers’ most likely opponent in the Wild Card Round of the NFL Playoffs, announced today that they will be resting their starters in Week 18. This means that Baun, who is one of their starters, will likely not play this weekend.
If he doesn’t play, Baun will finish the 2024 season with 151 tackles, five forced fumbles, four pass deflections, one fumble recovery and an interception.
According to Jeff Kerr, who covers the Eagles on CBS, Baun is the first player in NFL history to record more than 150 tackles and five forced fumbles in a season:

As mentioned earlier, Baun signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract with Philadelphia prior to the season.
It’s safe and sound to say that he will sign a much more lucrative contract in 2025.
