The recipe for this delicious drink comes from Hilaria Ponce, a sophomore at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities studying agricultural education, communications and marketing. She says this tasty agua fresca recipe is a favorite from her childhood.
Low in sugar and full of delicious, fresh ingredients, agua fresca consists of fresh fruit, lime juice, water and sweetener. Originating in Mexico, these drinks are a low-calorie, fruity alternative to juices, making them perfect for both adults and children.
You can change this recipe by substituting your favorite fruit or even substituting vegetables like cucumbers! You can even make this drink carbonated by adding carbonated water.
