Friday Night Blitz: Neenah defeats Kimberly again to advance to Level 3

KIMBERLY — About four weeks ago, Neenah defeated rival FVA Kimberly for the first time in 19 years on a made field goal with 10 seconds left.

Both teams will share the conference crown with Kaukauna, and this week the Rockets and Papermakers met in Tier 2 of the Division 1 playoffs.

However, Neenah blew past Kimberly in the second half, outscoring them 21-7, winning 34-14 and advancing to the third tier of the playoffs.

“I felt really good at the time, but I feel really good now,” Rockets head coach Steve Jung said of the first win and playoff victory. “I’m really elated for our staff and our children. They really worked difficult and they really believed in the system, they really believed in what we presented here today, they believe in each other and they did the job.

No. 3 Neenah will now host No. 4 Muskego next Friday night. The Warriors defeated the Rockets in Week 1, rallying from an 18-point halftime deficit to win 31-21.
