Appleton (NBC 26) – is the most decorated athlete who left Appleton North and now returned with lightning. After a successful professional football career, Sarah Hagen returned as the main coach of the Appleton North Girls football team.
“I am a very family person,” said coach Sarah Hagen. “I lived around the world in my football career – dismissals, in the USA and in the Middle West. Returning to Appleton and the ability to train girls, you know, I have long translated the corridors of this school.”
Hagen was three-time All-State football at Appleton North. Later she had a star career in UW-Milwaukee, where she received the title Horizon League player of the year three times.
Hagen has set several records to UWM and led Panthers to four conference titles and four trips to the NCAA tournament. In 2016, she was introduced to Galeria Sław Panthers.
After studying, Hagen played professionally for six years. She took part both abroad and in the National Football League of women, playing in Orlando Pride, Houston Dash and FC Kansas City. She was also a member of the American national team of women.
Hagen withdrew from professional football in 2018.
“I grew up to be a professional footballer. I didn’t have aspirations to become a teacher, policeman or doctor. My aspirations were to be a professional athlete. Fortunately, with a hard work that I put into the game, I could play after graduation and at a professional level. Only thinking, like every day and every day and hope that it explains the players.”
Hagen returns to his former high school after spending the year as the main coach of the de pere girls’ football team.
Seniors from Appleton North, who had three different trainers for four years, were excited when they found out who would run the program last year.
“We talked to our director for activities, Mr. Kubuske, and we thought:” Do you know who it would be? ” – said older Maya Zuleyki. “And when we learned that she was coach Sarah, we were very excited because she really knows the game and we were excited that she gave us it.”
Elder colleague Addison Schneider, who is involved in playing football in St. Norbert, he is also excited to learn from Hagen last year in high school.
“I just saw her career and thought:” Wow, she really knows the game. He plays the game. He has a lot of great knowledge. ” So I really can’t wait for the season and her knowledge and experience that support us grow and become better. “
While Błyskawica is preparing for rehearsals and the season has not officially started, Hagen willingly transmits the motto that she learned in college at UW-Milwaukee.
“Submit the best in yourself,” said Hagen. “I still think about it every day, regardless of whether you are on the pitch or in the classroom. Give the best of your teammates. If people need support, be there, listen – I really want to introduce players here in the north.”
Hagen said it was great to go back to her former high school and see a few friends who were nearby when she was a student. She already surrounds a lot of noise, and she can’t wait to influence both the pitch and outside.
“Of course, we want to put a good product on the pitch, but at the end of the day it is a value that I can bring to these players,” said Hagen.
