Grant Wolfram is one of two MLB signings the Milwaukee Brewers made this offseason, the other being Elvin Rodriguez. Wolfram, a 28-year-old left-hander, was previously a member of the Texas Rangers organization, but after years of not being called up to the substantial league roster, he opted for free agency at the end of the 2024 season.

When free agency started Tungsten met with immediate interest – 18 teams signed up. He is coming off an incredible 2024 season in which he recorded a 3.34 ERA and six saves in 56.2 innings pitched in Triple-A. His 2023 season in Double-A was equally impressive, as he recorded an ERA of 2.20 in 49.0 innings. Wolfram thought he was a candidate to be drafted to the MLB team, especially last year, but the Rangers chose another option.

With Wolfram receiving a lot of interest, it became clear to his agent that an MLB contract was a real possibility. A total of six teams offered such a contract, and Wolfram chose the Brewers. He cited factors such as location, Midwestern values and the team’s reputation for pitching development as reasons for choosing Milwaukee.
What role could Grant Wolfram play with the Brewers in 2025?
Wolfram serves as a reliever and will likely see action in the Brewers bullpen at various points in 2025. Since he didn’t make his MLB debut, he joins a team with three minor league options. This roster flexibility gives him the initial prospect of being a player who bounces between the majors and minor leagues, but he performs well on the field and could play a significant role in the MLB, much like Jared Koenig got his chance a season ago.
