Green Bay is producing gigantic 56-inch muskies for Wisconsin anglers fishing for walleye

A Northwoods angler heading to Peshtigo for spring walleyes from Green Bay instead caught a fish he didn’t expect to catch – a 56-inch muskie that bottomed another angler’s 60-pound weight.
In Ashland, Wisconsin, when retired U.S. Marine Lt. Col. Mark Mackey called and invited him to the Peshtigo River to go walleye fishing, he didn’t hesitate.
“Bob (Mackey) said, ‘Now’s the time, brother.’ He told me about the 30+ inch walleyes he has been catching for several years and sent me a few photos as well, so it didn’t take much to convince me to make the trip,” said Mark Mackey.
