Green Bay Packers show interest in Wisconsin Badgers DB ahead of 2025 NFL Draft

Last season, the Green Bay Packers completely overhauled their safety room. They released their weaker veterans at the position, signed Xavier McKinney and drafted three rookies: Javon Bullard, Evan Williams and Kitan Oladapo.

This offseason, there are plenty of reasons to believe they will do something similar with the cornerback position. While Carrington Valentine and Keisean Nixon are likely to return next season after solid years in 2024, the futures of Jaire Alexander and Eric Stokes are in doubt. The former publicly stated that he does not know whether he will return in 2025, while the latter will be a free agent at the beginning of the modern league year.

Regardless of who returns and who leaves, the fact is that Green Bay needs more depth at the cornerback position. It appears they have their eye on the Wisconsin Badgers star, who has declared for the 2025 NFL draft.

The Green Bay Packers appear to be interested in Wisconsin Badgers cornerback Nyzier Fourqurean

Wisconsin cornerback Nyzier Fourqurean (3) pressures South Dakota quarterback Aidan Bouman (2) during the first quarter of a game Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wisconsin.

According to Easton Butler z Packer ReportGreen Bay sent a scout to the Hula Bowl, the college football all-star game where seniors can do just that showcase your talents for the NFL and other professional football leagues. One of the players the scout met with was Badgers cornerback Nyzier Fourqurean.

Last year, Fourqurean had 51 tackles, one interception and five passes defensed in his second season with the Badgers.

Ahead of the Badgers 2024 season, Daniel Harms with Project network had the following words to say about Wisconsin’s star cornerback:

“Listed at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, Fourqurean has good NFL size/frame and decent arm length, which he uses to push/jam receivers off the line whenever the opportunity arises. He loses timing in fast-paced play, but should use his physicality more to disrupt released packages. A smart football player sees route combinations developing and keeps the quarterback in sight. His back is inconsistent, but he shows enough good reps with square shoulders and dip in the hips to suggest this is an area he can improve.

“He’s good at reacting to tackles in the post and staying in the hip pocket as a man coverage defender, and he’s also quick to react to close shots and tackles. He is an aware attacker and participant in the running game; he will not shy away from physicality. “Demonstrated DII ball skills with 14 pass breakups and four interceptions in 2022.”

Harms, however, says Fourqurean is inconsistent and needs improvement on top courses. He also pointed out that he doesn’t necessarily perform very well in zone coverage.

Again, this was Fourqurean’s 2024 sighting report and Harms listed him as a possible pick on Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft. It will be fascinating to see if he has improved his position since then.
