Forester Stuart Boren of Florence, Wisconsin, a border town adjacent to the Upper Peninsula, on June 25 documented the collateral damage that harsh winter weather does to white-tailed deer.
“I was watching a big doe from the house,” Boren said. “We have seen her for weeks and she is already used to us. She had her head down and I could see she was licking something. Half an hour later, when she was gone, I went to where she was.
The doe gave birth to twin fawns, both dead.
