Open water conditions across Wisconsin look a little different than they did at this time last year.
Thousands of anglers across the Badger State plan to begin 2024 hook fishing on lakes, rivers and streams on Saturday, May 4, following one of the mildest winters on record across the Midwest. A bland winter has passed into spring, and although there has been a brief cooling off recently, no ice remains on the water in any of the 72 counties – a welcome change for many, but especially so for those interested in fishing the northern counties from Dairyland to Niagara.
