June 15-16 will be a large weekend for trap shooters at Maribel Sportsman’s Club.
From 8 a.m. to noon June 15, the club will hold open shooting for both youth and adults. Adults are normal price, but youth will get one free round of targets and a free box of shells to shoot their round.
Then from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. June 16, the club will hold its Father’s Day Tom Meyer Memorial Progressive Lewis Trap Shoot. The club will put in the first $100 to build the Lewis payout. Food and refreshments will be served, and a portion of proceeds will go to Pink Heals.
Maribel Sportsman’s Club is next to Interstate 43, exit 164, on State 147 in Maribel.
The June 15 free youth shooting at the Maribel club is compliments of Northeast Wisconsin Youth Shooting Program, Inc. It is the program’s first youth shoot of the summer, and the second will be at Manitowoc Gun Club from 4:30 to 7 p.m. July 16.

Shooters from across the state join Pheasants Forever Triple Challenge
Pheasants Forever held its ninth annual Triple Challenge May 16-19 at the Manitowoc Gun Club and Joe’s Clays.
Shooters from all over Wisconsin came to shoot 16-yard trap, skeet and sporting clays.
Four-hundred fifty-three shooters participated in trap shooting, 138 shot skeet and 270 shot sporting clays.
Westshore club offers $500 scholarship
Westshore Sportsman’s Club is offering a $500 scholarship. To be eligible, you must be a member, a child of a member or a grandchild of a member of the Westshore Sportsman’s Club and have completed your second year of college by June 30.

Rifle and Pistol Club’s Summer Open Trap Shooting in progress
Manitowoc Rifle and Pistol Club has its 2024 Summer Open Trap Shooting in progress.
The Manitowoc Rifle and Pistol Club, at 7227 Sandy Hill Lane, north of Two Rivers between State 42 and County Highway O on Viceroy Road, has trap shooting open to the public on Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The event is sponsored by the club on a weekly basis and runs through the month of August.
Membership in the Manitowoc Rifle and Pistol Club is appreciated, but not required to participate. A fee of $5 per round of trap shooting is charged. 12-gauge target ammunition is available for purchase at $9 per box of 25 shells for operate on the range. There are no team requirements.
Scores are retained on an individual basis for reference by each participant. Enjoyment and camaraderie through participation in a sheltered shooting sport is the goal.
Buck and Bear Club printing up-to-date record book in the fall
Wisconsin Buck and Bear Club will be printing a up-to-date record book this fall. Hunters are reminded to get their deer and bear scored, as the book is printed every six years. Wisconsin Buck and Bear Club official scorer Stan Zirbel can be contacted at 920-864-2646.
Woodland Dunes presents ‘Raising a Wild Child: Dragonflies’
Woodland Dunes Nature Center and Preserve in Two Rivers will present “Raising a Whild Child: Dragonflies” June 13.
The first session runs 9-10:15 a.m. and the second runs 10:45 a.m.-noon. Cost is $2 per child for members or $3 per child for non-members.
During the event, experience the wonders of nature with your 2- to 5-year-old through nature hikes, play and guided activities. Help your child notice the natural world and ignite their curiosity.
Children must be accompanied by an adult. Those attending should dress for the weather — a majority of the program is outdoors. Older siblings are welcome to attend.

Fish and Game meets June 12
Manitowoc Unit of Fish and Game’s next meeting will be at 7 p.m. June 12 at Lincoln Park’s Cabin No. 1. The meeting is free and open to the public.
Guest speaker will be Dean Halvorsen reporting on the recently completed Manitowoc County Conservation Study, a foundational tool for membership development moving forward. Halvorsen and the Member Development Committee will also present some ideas generated from the survey results and related discussions.
The club will not meet in July.
