‘I Can Give You the Facts’ Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo Posts Irritated Comment (Report)

The Milwaukee Bucks have seemingly turned their season around after a leisurely start. They are currently 15-12, fifth in the Eastern Conference, 7-3 in their last 10 games, and have been playing much better recently.

However, Giannis Antetokoumnpo isn’t too elated about one particular thing.

The Milwaukee Bucks have been one of the best teams in the NBA in recent years, which has given them plenty of opportunities to play on Christmas Day. In each of the previous six seasons, Giannis Antetokounmpo & Co. played on December 25, and we he hoped this trend continued this season:

Unfortunately, this week marks the first time since 2017 that the Bucks will be benched on Christmas Day. The NBA has five games lined up for Christmas 2024, and this time Doc Rivers’ lineup has been left out in the icy.

With some of the league’s best players on the roster, the Bucks’ frustration with the snub is more than understandable. On Monday, Antetokounmpo told Eric Nehm of The Athletic how he feels about the lack of holiday action.

“There has to be an algorithm because if it’s a, how to say, popularity contest, I can give you the facts,” the two-time NBA MVP said. “Two All-Star NBA starters (Damian Lillard) and Giannis and All-Star MVP, right? And the No. 1 pick – not in the East, but in the entire NBA – is not playing in the Christmas game? What?”

If the NBA does decide on popularity on Christmas Day, Antetokounmpo has a right to be upset. As mentioned, both he and Lillard started in the Eastern Conference during the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, while the “Greek Freak” he overtook his colleagues with an astonishing number of 5,427,874 votes.

So if popularity won’t dictate the holiday schedule, Antetokounmpo wonders whether the Bucks’ location and the size of their fan base could have played a role in the snub.

“Because we have a small market? Maybe that’s what it is,” Antetokounmpo said. “Or I want to believe what I tell you. “I think there’s an algorithm in the NBA that chooses which team will get the most attention and the most viewership on any given day.”

Giannis recently cleared that up. Here are his last five matches:
