‘I’m embarrassed as a Badgers fan’ – Wisconsin Badgers fans brutally react to 44-25 loss

The Wisconsin Badgers lost 44-25 to the Nebraska Cornhuskers, allowing the program to become eligible for a future bowl game.

The Badgers is currently 5-6 after firing offensive coordinator Phil Longo in hopes of making changes to the offense. It’s challenging to make any changes during the week, and the Wisconsin offense looked very similar to what it has looked like all season. However, the defense looked worse, with many players taking crucial, costly penalties that ultimately led to defeat.

Wisconsin finds itself in an incredibly awkward situation, and a win against Minnesota is extremely necessary for many reasons. The Wisconsin Badgers currently have the third-longest winning streak in the FBS and are looking to extend that historic streak. The end of this streak, which is very likely, could be an unfortunate blemish on coach Luke Fickell’s career and the program after hiring him with such promises.

Becoming a bowling team is something that, while it may seem insignificant, will mean a lot to the current players on the team. Often times, recruits are able to demonstrate understanding and stay committed despite the team losing the season. However, players in the squad may not be as understanding and the risk of losing players will enhance if they miss a bowling game.

Often, great things take time, and Fickell asked for patience throughout the process as the coach works to build a program, not just a team. Last season, the Badgers went 7-6 after a close loss to the LSU Tigers, which showed great promise. Wisconsin has arguably regressed this year, with some particularly nasty losses to Iowa and Nebraska.

The loss to Nebraska is also significant because it was recently named a trophy game and awarded the Freedom Trophy. Nebraska won the trophy for the first time in nine years this season and for the first time since the trophy’s inception.

Wisconsin Badgers fans have been vocal about the team’s struggles throughout the year, but many people’s frustration seemed to get the better of them after the loss.

Between the team struggling with elementary mental mistakes and the offense stalling when they needed the most points, fans were frustrated. Quarterback Braedyn Locke also extended his interception streak, even though it looked like he would eventually pass it.
