The results of the seasonal survey of sandhill cranes could very well start an argument over whether the migratory bird should be hunted in Wisconsin, with the International Crane Foundation (ICF) saying no, but the Wildlife Conservation Congress and the Wisconsin Waterfowl Association saying yes.
The discussion about a sandhill crane hunting season has been going on since at least 2012, the first year the Environmental Protection Congress asked citizens if they supported a sandhill crane hunting season. According to Rob Bohmann, the congressional chairman, the idea has support in 65 of 72 counties.
