‘It’s all part of the plan’ – Milwaukee Bucks’ Taurean Prince candidly admits to his up-to-date role on the bench

After Khris Middleton returned to the Milwaukee Bucks lineup last month, Taurean Prince began to lose minutes. While Middleton was still recovering from off-season ankle surgeryPrince took his place for the first two months of the 2024–2025 campaign.

The two-time NBA Cup champion started games when Middleton came off the bench. However, since he only played nine minutes against the Boston Celtics last December diseasePrince’s minutes dropped to approximately 28–22 minutes per day.

“It was something different that obviously happened to me at the beginning of the season, but I didn’t really expect to start at the beginning of the season.” Prince told Jim Owczarski about the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

“But things happen. I mean, it’s all part of the plan. I knew this was coming. It’s a matter of adjustment in terms of minutes, which I’m keeping an eye on, trying to stay focused and not give up coming off the bench,” he added.

The Milwaukee Bucks view Taurean Prince as an important player on the team

Despite fewer minutes, Taurean Prince remains an important member of the Milwaukee Bucks. After last Tuesday’s 120-112 victory over the Indiana Pacers, head coach Doc Rivers praised the 30-year-old swingman for hitting a three-pointer to tie the game with 6:27 left.

“We don’t put on many shows for him. We don’t do a lot of catch-and-shoot for him. We use them more for AJ (Green) and GT (Gary Trent Jr.), but it’s important because his shots are huge for our team. And once we put him in the fourth quarter, he’s a great scorer late in games. He’s not afraid,” Rivers said of Prince.

“It’s part of the game. It’s part of life, it’s part of being in a band. If you want to worry about yourself, you should probably play an individual sport. In a team sport, you have to constantly think about what’s best for the organization and put the team before yourself,” Prince continued.
