The Wisconsin DNR will present a plan to the Natural Resources Board (NRB) to open Jackson County’s central elk zone to hunting this fall when board members meet on Wednesday, April 10 in Madison.
Moose were introduced to Jackson County in 2015 and 2016, and 23 and 50 animals were released from Kentucky in those years, respectively. The 2023 post-calving estimate is 160 moose. The population experienced a three-year average enhance of 15% per year.
