The New York Jets have requested an interview with Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley regarding his position as head coach. according to Albert Breer of MMQB.
This will be Hafley’s first interview with the head coach. Breer believes the conversation will take place later this week.
The Jets fired Robert Saleh, who eventually came to Green Bay in a consulting role, after starting 2-3 and finishing 5-12. The organization is currently undergoing an exhaustive interview process to find its next head coach.
Hafley, 45, just finished his first season as Matt LaFleur’s defensive coordinator in Green Bay. While the hiring was somewhat of a surprise at the time, Hafley was an incredible turnaround for a Packers defense that finished in the top 10 in multiple statistical categories, including points allowed per game and yards allowed per play.

Hafley returned to the NFL after five seasons in the college ranks. He was co-defensive coordinator at Ohio State in 2019 and head coach at Boston College from 2020-2023. He left to become the Packers’ defensive coordinator in January 2024.
Hafley was 22-26 in four seasons at Boston College. He was born in New Jersey, grew up in the state and played college football at Siena, New York.
