Jets sections expect to interview Packers GM Jon-Eric Sullivan for general manager role

One of the top executives in Brian Gutekunst’s office will interview with the New York Jets for an open general manager position. According to NFL Network’s Ian RapoportGreen Bay Packers vice president of player personnel Jon-Eric Sullivan is expected to interview with the Jets.

Sullivan spent the last 21 seasons in Green Bay, working under both Gutekunst and Ted Thompson. After joining the team in 2004, Sullivan was an area scout for eight seasons (2008-15), director of college scouting for two seasons (2016-17), co-director of player personnel for four seasons (2018-21). and currently Vice President of Player Personnel for the past three seasons, which has given him extensive experience as an evaluator of both academic and professional talent.

The Jets are searching for a general manager after the mid-season firing of Joe Douglas, who worked with Gutekunst and the Packers to trade for future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers in 2023. Two years later, one of Gutekunst’s top executives will get a chance to show the Jets why he could lead the team in 2025 and beyond.

In 2024, the Jets have a 5-12 record and may be on the verge of major organizational changes. New York is also searching for a up-to-date head coach after firing Robert Saleh mid-season. Rodgers turned 41 last December and his future in football is uncertain.

SI’s Albert Breer recently highlighted Sullivan as a “future NFL general manager” entering the 2025 offseason. Breer mentioned Sullivan as an instrumental part of the Packers, identifying Jordan Love as a potential quarterback and later taking him in the 2020 draft.
