Keisean Nixon sections on re-signing with Packers: ‘I didn’t want to go anywhere else’

Green Bay Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon didn’t want to leave in free agency and is cheerful to be back in Green Bay on a recent three-year contract.

Nixon and Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst agreed to an $18 million deal with $6.5 million guaranteed in March.

“I’m glad to be back here,” Nixon said Tuesday. “This is where I wanted to be. I didn’t want to go anywhere else. I’m happy that my agent, Gutey and them sorted everything out. Here for at least the next three (years).”

Nixon, who has been an All-Pro returner for the Packers the past two years, served as the team’s starting cornerback in 2023. He is expected to retain that position in 2024 under recent defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.

Nixon said he has experience working on a defense similar to Hafley’s from previous seasons with the Raiders.

“I like (the scheme),” Nixon said. “I like coach Haf and what he brings to the game, as well as his defensive design. It will be a little different than mine, but it makes sense.”

When asked about the aggressiveness of the defense, Nixon replied, “Yeah, definitely run and hit.”

Nixon also said he is reviewing the recent NFL kickoff rules and trying to learn more by watching XFL film.

“I’m excited. It’s going to be good. They have to give me the ball, so we’ll see,” Nixon said.
