Leah Saffert, 10, of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, who fishes with her dad and brother, was bait fishing on Minnesota’s Lake of the Woods when she hooked and beached a 50-inch muskie in Zippel Bay on the southern shore of the massive lake on Sunday, Dec. 31, 2023.
As the flag rose, the spindle began to turn and newborn Saffert set the hook.
