Everyone has a favorite place to go when they’re craving burgers, and now’s your chance to recognize those restaurants that work difficult to create delicious memories.
The Wisconsin Beef Council is accepting nominations for the inaugural Wisconsin’s Best Burger competition. The aim of the competition is to find and promote 100% beef burgers prepared in restaurants in Wisconsin.
Individuals can nominate their favorite beef burger from a Wisconsin restaurant (one nomination per person) on the Wisconsin Beef Council website at https://www.beftips.com/events/best-burger-contest. Nominations will be accepted until midnight on Sunday, March 24, 2024.
The elite eight restaurants receiving the most nominations will be announced in early April.
A secret panel of judges will go to each restaurant to rate the burgers. Burgers will be scored on taste (50 points), appearance (30 points), proper cooking (10 points), overall enjoyment of the burger (10 points), and additional points may be awarded for environment, atmosphere and eating experience (up to 5 points). )
The winning restaurant will be announced on May 1, kicking off May Beef Month.
To be eligible to participate in the competition, a hamburger must meet the following guidelines:
- The burger must be 100% beef (other ingredients such as spices, vegetables, etc. can be added to the pate)
- All burgers must consist of a formed patty/patty of ground beef served on a bun or other bread product (such as biscuits, focaccia or tortillas). Burgers can contain any combination of seasonings (such as ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard), sauces (such as barbecue or heated sauce), cheeses, and toppings (such as bacon, onion, tomatoes, and lettuce). Each burger ingredient should be placed between the bun and pieces of bread or served open on the bread product.
Burgers must be on the regular menu of the nominated restaurant, and the restaurant must be open all year round. A restaurant can only win the Wisconsin Best Burger competition once. The Wisconsin Beef Council retains the discretion to make any decisions regarding the interpretation of the Official Rules. All WBC decisions are final and discretionary. Restaurants that will be in the top eight and will definitely be the winners will naturally experience an boost in turnover and should keep this in mind when applying for nominations.
